GENERAL STANDARDS INFORMATION ON DOOR SETS
INFObox for DIN EN 1906
standards for door handles and knobs
Door fttings complying to DIN EN 1906 standard are designed for use on heavy duty doors,
particularly in public buildings such as hospitals, schools etc.
The requirements of the DIN EN 1906 standard have been developed and ratifed at European
level and labelled with a universal classifcation code in order to ensure the standardisation and
comparison of diferent characteristics.
The door fttings are tested by the ofcial testing institute together with complying locks and
profle cylinders.
If the fttings comply with the requirements and the quality assessment standards have been
adhered to, a certifcate will be issued (for example see page 13).
This is essential for placement within the classifcation key consisting of 8 Categories -
see example - .
4 7 - D 1 3 O U
① ② ③ ④ ⑤ ⑥ ⑦ ⑧
Each number of of the classifcation key corresponds to a specifc category.
For a broad overview of their meaning, please see below:

to class 4 = high number of operations
② Durability number of operations (6=100.000 or 7=200.000)
③ Door mass not necessary for furniture
④ Fire resistance From class 0 = not for use on fre door assemblies
to class D = for use on fre door assemblies
⑤ Safety From class 0 = standard
to class D = safety applications
⑥ Corrosion resistance From class 0 = no corrosion resistance
to class 5 = extremly high resistance
⑦ Security From class 0 = not approved
to class 4 = very high burglar resistance
⑧ Type of operation Type A = spring-assisted furniture
